My daughter has been studying for the New SAT. While she is also working online and with an SAT prep book, she is using these flashcards as a supplement and finding them very helpful. (I would not recommend using ONLY the flashcards for preparation – – they are best of the supplement.)If, like mine, your student learns well from flashcards, this is an excellent set for New SAT preparation.I hope this helps with your decision. I'm a Harvard grad, SAT perfect scorer and full-time tutor who has taught the SAT for nearly 20 years. I think we can all agree that notecards are great study tools, and are often more practical and easy-to-use than are books, which is why I was excited to buy and review this product.I give these flashcards my recommendation because of their convenience, low price, and helpful system of organization. However, I would caution against simply "studying" these cards: passively reading them is not the best form of learning. Instead, write anything down that is unfamiliar. We fail to take advantage of tactile learning when we use pre-printed notecards, which is why making your own notecards is an even better option.As you can see from the picture, the flashcards include convenient red tabs on the top that help you keep them organized in the box by topic.The 500 flashcards are divided as follows:1) 100 Vocabulary cards featuring context clues (two words on each flashcard--one on bottom (grey tabs) and the other on top (red tabs))2) 200 Grammar and Writing cards3) 90 Math Fact cards4) 20 Math Strategy cards5) 70 Multiple-Choice Math questions6) 20 Grid-In Math questionsIn addition, it is worth noting that these cards are designed for the average test-taker, not SAT high scorers (1200 and above). Barron's SAT products has always been my best friends in getting ready for the SAT exams! Since this new SAT came out, I thought it would be best to start practicing with new flesh cards, which basically include some of the past ones from vocabulary section, but now it is much more expanded I think.It perfectly fits with the description in terms of what sections are involved and what it specializes on. I feel like it is way easier to do reviews and revision with flesh cards, rather then books, especially because you can create a system of elimination of the best known bits. It is very convenient and makes studies very organized and enjoyable.I definitely recommend these flesh cards for anyone who is getting ready for the new SAT tests! And have a good luck everyone!

How this is to be done with a struggling insect is not clear. In the experiment entitled " Oil Rainbow" the colours seen when a thin film of oil is on to of water are due to refraction of light through the oil. In fact, they are caused by interference, This is a proof of the wave nature of light. The explanation is misleading.The experiment entitled "Personal Gravity" tells the child to weigh her/himself at he top of a tall building, then weigh again at the bottom. While there is a difference in the weight of an object at a high altitude and a low one, this difference is far too small to be detected by a bathroom scale at tyhe top and bottom of the world's highest building. It is also stated that astronauts are weightless in earth orbit because they are far away from the earth's gravity. This is simply wrong.. The experiment "Wind Chill" is completely misleading. Wind chill affects only objects warmer than the environment. Not thermometers

Seven year old grandson LOVES it. Materials lists are mostly ordinary items you already have. Instructions are simple to follow with limited adult supervision. Children older than 7 could likely complete them without help. We've worked through 3 of the first 4 chapters and the experiments all work as described. Many of the experiments could easily expand into science projects. And the best part: in this entire 4 day visit he has played about 2 minutes of Candy Crush and has been way more interested in repeating experiments than in computer games. I will be looking for the sequel.

Great book! don't waste your money on those expensive science kits. This book is perfect for the child that says "I want to do a science experiment!" every night when getting home from school. So far, we have had all the stuff we needed and it only takes a few minutes to complete a simple science experiment that just might amaze your kids!

My home schooling daughter-in-law loves these hands-on science books for kids. And so do the kids!

I used this book for my Head Start kids and we found out that they really liked the new found knowledge about science. This is a great book for younger children that have a short attention span. I purchased it because I work with special needs children. It gives them the opportunity to do science and enjoy it. There were some experiments that were not suited for this population thus the rating. If you have children at home and you want to get them interested in science in a fun way, this is the book.
