I absolutely LOVE Mary Downing Hahn. Her ghost stories have always been so amazingly spooky. From the second you start reading one of her Ghost Stories, you are hooked....as in, you simply cannot put the down until you are done.“The Girl in the Locked Room” is absolutely nothing like Hahn’s previous ghost stories. I was truly disappointed in this book. Compared to her others, it fails miserably. While reading this book, I couldn’t help but think an assistant or even a teenager wrote it, but certainly not Mary Hahn.I’m not sure what happened, but it’s difficult to believe “The Girl in the Locked Room” comes from the author who wrote “The Old Willis Place”, “Deep, Dark and Dangerous” or “All the Lovely Bad Ones.”

I enjoyed the details Of scenes and characters that brought me into the story. I can relate to the idea of being watched, or thinking someone is watching me from a window. It helped with the creepy vibe. But Lily turns out to be a nice ghost, so this is an easy and not quite so scary read. Though, there are things that are dreadful, they aren't brought up consistently, mostly near the end. Oh, and the men that come in the night on horses...YIKES! Didn't everyone worry as a child that someone would come get them from their rooms? I think Mary Downing Hahn might've struck a nerve with this part of the story that many can relate to.

While this ghost story isn't quite in the same league as some of MDH's more famous ghost story's (The Old Willis Place), it still a good old fashion ghost story, and that is what MDH does best. It’s a bit of a slow start, but an unusual ending pulls it through.

My son discovered this author in 4th grade and it steadily cruising through the series. Holds his interest and good mysteries.

I must admit that I only like scary books that are intended for younger readers. I am a wimp. It was a nice read.

I absolutely love this book!. I've been making all natural soap for over a year and have bought many soap books and I absolutely love it. She gives all the knowledge, tips, techniques, and recipes needed for a beginner to novice soaper. All the pictures are so colorful, I just wish there would be a picture for each soap recipe on its recipe page. I can't wait to begin trying the soap recipes and new techniques.

Did you know that descriptions of soapmaking have been discovered going back to 2200 B.C.? This author has been making her own soap since 2008. FYI none of the recipes contain palm oil.Eight chapters:All About Soapmaking * Essential Equipment and Ingredients * Cold-Process Soapmaking * Hot-Process Soapmaking * Liquid Soapmaking * Melt-and-Pour Soapmaking * Hand-Milling Soap * Finishing TouchesWhat's the difference between all the different types of soap? The author explains them in the first chapter. Lots of cool techniques shared with plenty of pictures! (Pictures are not beside the individual recipes but in the "How To' sections.) If you've wondered how to create swirly soap or even layered soap, it's all in this book!IMPORTANT to note that you will need a digital scale that has metric measurements i.e. grams as ALL the measurements are in grams. When making soap, all ingredients are weighed. Yes, even the water! LOVE the way the title of each recipe is highlighted making them so easy to see.As a family who makes their own soap I was interested to see what I would learn from this book. I am happy to report that this book contains a wealth of information along with having a LOT of recipes. We will definitely be referencing back to this for our next soapmaking marathon. At the end of the book you will find measurement conversion charts. This is followed by a recipe index, glossary, resources and indexes.I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. I've only made soap one time, so I'm not exactly a pro or the most qualified person to write a review on this book. That being said, I can offer a look at what it's like to read this book as a novice. For starters this is a gorgeous book, it's a little big and intimidating at first glance but I really like the lay out (could have used a lot more pictures though!). This book contains 65 soap recipes and is broken into 8 sections. The first two talk about soap making and provide a brief but necessary overview on what to expect, essential equipment, and ingredients. After that it jumps right in and the remaining chapters are broken into sections regarding the process behind them: cold process, hot process, liquid, melt and pour, and hand milling. Sprinkled throughout the recipes are tips and techniques as well as very detailed instructions. The last chapter is on finishing touches. Even though I haven't started any batches of soap yet, I'm really excited to try out some of these recipes. Mocha mint soap, cucumber scrub soap, rose clay soap, and charcoal soap are just a few of the 60+ recipes I can't wait to try out. An excellent guide for beginners as well as an excellent recipe book for even the most experienced of soap-makers.

I am a well seasoned soapmaker; so I understand the chemistry behind making soap and have done much research as well. Amanda's book is a wonderful resource for anyone who would like to make soap using more "Natural" ingredients. I know Amanda and her husband Benjamin and they have a wealth of knowledge that they share with others and they teach people in other countries to help them be more self sustainable.This book has eight chapters:All about soapmakingEssential Equipment and ingredientsCold Process soapmakingHot process soapmakingLiquid soapmakingMelt and pour soapmakingHand Milling soapFinishing TouchesThere is also a measurement and conversions chart, glossary, resource list, recipe label index and a regular index.Amanda covers colorants that are more natural using spices, herbs, clays and such. She does not cover the "unnatural" colorants and she mentions this in her book. She also uses essential oils and natural additives. Even though she does include melt and pour (which can cause controversy with some soapmakers) she still includes a chapter for those wanting to try this method.Soap making can be hazardous and she does discuss the importance of safety, which is absolutely paramount with anyone who has ever made soap. In my 20 year of soapmaking, I have never had a lye burn or any bad thing happen, but it because I stick to absolute safety and good manufacturing practices.Worth mentioning with the digital scale that she recommends, I would additionally recommend one that measures at least to tenths. And you want one that measures in grams and ounces as well. They are relatively inexpensive. Shop around and get a good one. You'll be glad you did.Some soapmakers will use Palm Oil. I am one of those. I do try to get sustainable palm oil, but I do not avoid it, and that is a personal choice.There are a good variety of pictures in this book which is a help for those who haven't had a great deal of experience using natural additives.Amanda also has some good troubleshooting tips in the book as well as some excellent recipes. One of the things that you will want to is find a good lye calculator and she lists several of these in her book under resources. Her recipes and instructions are very well stated and easy to follow. This is a wonderful resource book and I am happy to have received a copy from the publisher in exchange for my unbiased review.I would highly recommend this book for anyone. I have read 100's of books and articles about maintaining your sexual relationship in marriage and this book has one of the best sections of describing the differences in the way men and women relate to sex. I enjoyed that Rochelle approaches sex from the standpoint that both men and women desire and need it, despite approaching it from different angles. The only "beef" I have is that although the book was very good, the links at then end are high pressure sales to purchase additional material that you "have" to have. I didn't appreciate the high-pressure sales tactics at the links and unfortunately, it diminishes the trust I have in the author. I still gave the book 5 stars, although I'm tempted to take the stars away because of these links.

An excellent aid in adding and keeping the fires of passion burning. We to soon take our mates for granted. This lets us know that maintaining interest in the marriage bed is a preventative to wandering.

Recycled information that you can read from Cosmo or Glamour magazine.....look good for your husband, wear make-up, take a bath with oils to smell good, etc. And once again, most of the responsibility lies on the woman to do most of the work. No new or helpful information that you haven't already read a 1000 times if you are a woman. Wish I could return.

I would recommend this book to all couples not just the married ones! It has great insight and if you follow along with the book you will really see a difference. It challenges you both in really great ways! It really is a great read for everyone!!

Nowadays practically all electronic procceses are digital, but the phenomens in the real world are analog, so the translation between one and other domains are fundamental. This is a great book in all the aspects in ADC/DACs. But it cover more than this, as: amplifiers, filtering, samplig, and PCB design techniques in order to mix analog and digital design.Plenti of pictures, schematics and diagrams, is written in the clear style as Analog Devices is used to do.I think is the best book I never saw in this topic

As an electrical engineer who has been out of school for a few years, I found this book to be tremendously helpful in covering topics I either never really delved into or only took intro courses on. It provided excellent explanations on both data conversion concepts and the hardware used to realize them. I found the handbook's explanation of device parameter specifications to be incredibly useful, giving the knowledge needed to pick the right part for my job. They also have testing and analysis procedures for different elements and great example circuits. Great book. I definitely recommend it.

I bought this book after the High Speed Analog seminar given by Analog Devices. Several chapters show modern types of data converters, interfacing to the analog signal sources and to the digital circuitry. It is a must for engineers who want not only to use the data conversion products but also understand what is going on there. I found this book to be very thorough and useful for ADC and DAC. I was able to use it as a reference to learn and later explain the details of different types of ADC/DAC systems. I'd recommend having this on your shelf. It's a pretty quick and detailed reference and I think it's the best money I've spent in the last 5 or so reference books I bought.

Our book club decided on this book and I’m so glad we did because it is not something I might have found for myself. I have always loved accounts of women’s solo adventures (Wild, Woodswoman, Canyon Solitude, to name a few), and this did not disappoint. The author’s journaling encompassed keen observation, interesting technical information, and thoughtful introspection--which then enabled her to write this detailed and heartfelt book. She transports the reader to her side where you feel the challenges and/or joy of every river, stream, lake, portage, and campground she encountered. An inspiration!

I am planning to paddle The NFCT in the spring, and have read this book, among others, in preparation for the trip. This book is not a cut and dry guide to paddling The NFCT, although it contains plenty of tips, but instead a description of what it feels like to experience a through-paddle, and the sights and sounds that accompany one. Congrats on your accomplishment! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great book about a great trail

Laurie’s writing is captivating! Her descriptions were so clear I could picture myself right there with her. What an inspiring story. Thanks Laurie!

Laurie Chandler’s Upwards is one of just a handful of canoe-based adventure memoirs that I have read. My primary interest is long distance backpacking and while I have read dozens of journal-adapted hiking books, this is one water-based adventure story that definitely makes the cut. The book has already earned placement in northeast US wilderness canoeing writing-after all, Laurie is now the first woman to solo thru-paddle (and portage) all 740 miles of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail ( NFCT) and she did it in a 13 foot canoe. I knew the first person to thru-paddle the same route way back in 2000, Donnie Mullins, a young local Mainer. Donnie did it in a heavier 16-foot wood-canvas canoe that he made himself. When I heard that he did it, I was shocked at realizing how difficult and dangerous it must have been. I was also friendly with Mike Kreppner, a local legend who ran one of the first custom outdoor gear shops around -Igas Island Gear. Mike was a historian of the ancient native American water highways in the Northeast and one of the individuals who was responsible for putting the NFCT into reality. I have also paddled some of the same waters that Laurie writes about, in particular the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. That paddle was a tough late April push a few years ago, even with two of us in the canoe. At age 53, Laurie grabs a huge piece of faith and goes for it. Laurie’s book references her Christian faith and her relationship with God. I have hiked through thousands of miles of wilderness and it is not possible to do these kinds of things without faith in something, be it yourself, the kindness of strangers, or even faith that it will get even a little better the next day. Faith in God is fine with me. Laurie lays out enough background to establish herself as an individual who grew up with family experience on the water, and her father plays a part in the story as well, paddling his own solo canoe beside her for a little while at the start of her journey, and re-entering periodically to assist her with some emotion and physical resupply. We all desperately need to re-engage in the natural world. Laurie’s persistence and unwillingness to give up mixes with intelligent improvisation resulting in a well-crafted story told in a sincere, humble manner. Laurie really did pull off a miracle in a couple of months that she will likely never forget. Thanks to Laurie, we get to take away some of that faith- that there is something awaiting us that is much bigger than ourselves out there on the pristine lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams of New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and my treasured state of Maine.

This is the story of an amazing adventure undertaken by a strong woman! Laurie is a great storyteller. I enjoyed the quotes, thoughts and poetry that began each chapter. Laurie's descriptive writing puts you right into the scene with her, and the photos sprinkled throughout add dimension to the story. Anyone who enjoys the outdoors, as well as those not as experienced with nature, will be able to imagine the call of the loon and the majesty of the moose. I was especially touched by the bond between Laurie and her parents, particularly when she and her father started out on the water together....such a special time for them. The author should feel extremely proud both for completing the journey and for completing the book. I hope she will write more!

This is a cute potty-training book that doubles as an alphabet book. Children will learn about many different animals while the baby giraffe searches for an appropriate potty. At first, the giraffe is frightened and unwilling to try toilet training, but as he visits the different animals he is encouraged by their positive attitude and willingness to help him.The book is written in short rhymes as each letter of the alphabet is highlighted. A few of these rhymes are a bit far-fetched but I don’t believe the young readers will be bothered by it. American parents will need to explain that nappies are diapers. I would recommend it as a short read while the toddler is on the potty or as a repeated bedtime story to encourage a child who is resistant to toilet training.

I read out loud this cute story to my grandson & he loved it, even he liked the colorful illustrated characters. This book worked from the 3rd day of my purchase & changed my grandson’s habits, taught him how to use a potty, even I noticed he has not pooped in his pants since reading it. I would recommend this book to my friends, relatives and neighbor parents because they can potty train their child through this fun & effective way.

There are many ABC books and it is quite difficult to say which one your child will relate to more. For beginners it is always important to have bright colors and interesting pictures, as their learning is mostly visual at that point.The text in the book is for a reading age of 3-4 plus, with the exception of advanced readers. The rhymes will help the child remember the connection to the letter.This book is great for children under 5 to help with letters and letter sounds. Highly recommended download your copy today.

My three years old daughter loved this book and it's her favorite one now. This book has many colorful & great animal pictures and she really loves to see how they used to go bathroom for potty. It's a cute story about Baby Giraffe and her animal friends. Personally I think, it's genius to combine learning the alphabet with potty training. The illustrations of this book are very amusing & outstanding, and I would definitely like to recommend it for everyone who has a toddler or a kid of age 2 to 5, it's truly great.

I’m wondering how amazing this book! Its colorful pages & overall illustration is totally outstanding, liked it. I never thought this could be an effective way to teach my daughter how to use a potty. Its catchy rhymes really wonderful, It has cute characters specially the baby Giraffe & his all decent animal friends made the story & this book super duper blast for kids. Also the calendar at the end really so cute. I do recommend this potty training book to all parents for their toddlers.

This is such a cute & wonderful book for kids, especially for teaching them how to go to the toilet & use that properly. I really loved this way to teach our kids how to use bathroom. I loved the overall illustration of this book & it’s so colorful. There's everything inside of this book such as: cute alphabets, nice professional animal paintings and catchy potty rhymes.
