I would recommend this soft back book to beginners and intermediate watercolor artists.The reproduction is excellent and the text and illustrations are simple to follow.Very pleased and inspired to paint more often.

I had the CCNA, CCDA, and CCNA Voice which were due to expire in March 2015, so I figured I'd go for the Data Center cert to extend out the three certs I already have, plus get a new one. CCNA DC has 2 exams the 640-911 and the 640-916, and this book covers the 911. There is no book on the 916 from either Todd or Cisco press right now, so I decided to take a Global Knowledge CCNA DC bootcamp, which covered both the 911 and the 916. I read Todds book and took the bootcamp before taking the 911 exam, which I passed. I planned on taking the 916 before my other certs expired in March.That being said, if you have no hands on experience with Nexus and only read Todds book for the 911, you will NOT pass the current 911 exam. Perhaps the exam changed since Todd released the book, but as other reviewers have said, there is a lot on the exam that is nowhere in Todds book. What really annoyed me was the test itself; the stuff that was not in Todds book that was on the test was really stuff that in my opinion did not make you 640-911 qualified or not. They didn't quite ask questions like "what color is a Nexus 5000 series", but I thought there were questions that were just as irrelevent in my opinion - but if you didn't know the answers to those, you would get the question wrong. The Global Knowledge course filled in those blanks, but that was not the reason I took that class; I took it to prepare for the 916 test.To be fair, what Todd did have in his book was good information, and as with his other books, the material was clearly presented and accurate, with his usual chapter questions, flash cards, etc. The 911 material is very similar to the CCNA material, with the differences being in the command syntax used on Nexus, which is just different enough from IOS that you need a book like this to learn from (IOS syntax will not work on Nexus in a lot of cases). There is a Nexus 7000 simulator included with this book which seems pretty good when you first look at it, but you will find that the only commands that will work on it are the ones in Todds labs, and not a single additional command that I could see. For example, I tried to practice some of my own ACL's and certian basic statements just came back with the ^ marker, and I know for sure they were good commands because they worked on the "real" Nexus's we had in the class. And also note that it is a 7000 simulator, so it wont be much use if you are wanting to practice 5000 series stuff, and definitely won't help on the MDS commands (thats not the intent of the simulator, just pointing it out). I'm giving Todds book three stars only because the book is out of date and the Simulator could use some additional commands. You may want to get the Cisco Press book on the 911 which came out in December. I have it but didn't read it end to end to see if it has anything in it that Todds book didn't.I did pass the 640-911 and was happy to discover that just passing the 911 was enough to extend out my other three certifications! Thats not immediately clear in the Cisco documentation - it was implied that you needed an additional CERTIFICATION to extend existing certifications. Passing the 911 does NOT get you the CCNA DC certification, but since passing it extended my other three certs, I am not under the gun to pass the 916 test. For that one I am waiting for the Cisco Press 916 book which comes out in March.

I just got back from the testing center where I passed the 640-911 exam. Todd's book was a great resource for the exam. I had previously used Todd's Network+ book as my only resource (outside of experience) for the Net+ exam so I was familiar with his writing style. Todd keeps it fun and not too dry. When it comes to this book, you'll definitely want to have some background in networking as the depth level of this one is sufficient for the exam but is not a complete reference on the topics. (thus the name: Study Guide) You definitely want to download the Sybex test engine and make use of the practice exams that are included with the book. There was nothing on my exam that was not covered in the book. Make sure you do all the Written Labs and Review Questions at the end of each chapter. If you are not gettting 90% or so on these then you are not ready to move on. Now, I just need Todd to hurry up and finish the 640-916 study guide so I can go take the 2nd test and get the CCNA DC cert. If you are working towards the CCNA DC cert then get this book and read it. Even if you have the knowledge already it is a good refresher on exam topics that you may not deal with anymore. (i.e. FDDI, Token Ring, 10Base2)Highly recommended for 640-911 exam.

Todd has a great way of writing. He explains things in a more conversational style which engages the reader and keeps them interested and enthused.In contrast, the official cert guides can be more of a tedious read. Both are good so I would recommend getting both but doing each chapter of Todd's book first then doing the associated chapter(s) in the Cert guide. If you are a totally new to this and can only get one book get Todd's book. If you decide to get the cert guide get the version that comes with the Pearson practice tests so you will have 3 sets of practice questions; Todd's questions, the cert book questions in the book and finally the practice questions from Pearson.

I picked this up from the library for my 3.75 yr old grandson. He loves the poems. Most have excellent rhythm and lend themselves well to reading aloud, with Expression! He follows along and enjoys the imaginative take but most of the gentle irony is lost on him. I purchased a copy & loaned it to my sister who has a precocious young reader. She was charmed as well and a copy is already on it's way to her just shy of 6 yr old granddaughter who will probably actually get the humor, Most of the poems are delightful, clever affectionate looks at our various lives and personalities as seen through our clothing's eyes. There are a couple of weaker entries that don't seem quite as fully realized but on the whole it's an excellent book to share with the youngster of your choice.

We had high hopes for this book because we love the little blue truck books. Unfortunately, the poems are not very interesting for my 4 year old daughter ( and they were boring for me to read as well!).

The poems are catchy and clever rhymes, each one about a different animal wearing a different article of clothing. My 4 1/2 year old daughter enjoys hearing "Tonya's Old Tee Shirt" about a bear's tee shirt that is now used as a dust rag. I like "Wanda's bathing suit" about a rabbit who likes to get herself and her suit wet, along with everyone around them. The illustrations are cute and vivid. You can read the book cover to cover or select a rhyme or two per sitting and either way it's great.

One of the best poetry books ever.

I liked it and found it entertaining, especially the illustrations. This was purchased as a gift for a four year old girl; until she hears it read I'll have to wait and then probably edit my review.

Cute and fun book of poems! Great illustrations and an entertaining read for adults (oh you think baby is actually listening?). Wish it came in a board book though!

Although I am a fan of DK Publishing books, this one was not a hit with myself or my toddler. She loves dogs so I thought this book would be right up her alley. The book is small to begin with but the actual touch and feel sections are TINY. One page is just a dog's black nose and my toddler can't even see the fabric part to feel because it's so small. If this book came in a larger size we would like it much more. As it is, I wouldn't recommend it.

My baby loves puppies and touch n feel books, so I had to get this book. She likes this one, but isn't one of the first she goes for. The touch n feel parts are all various fabrics. I wish there was more variety, like a rubbery ball, or wet/sticky noses. The parts to feel are also small areas so it is a little more difficult to guide younger babies to the textured part. However, the binding on this book seems more sturdy than another dk book that I have. Overall, it is a fun book, just not as fun as some other touch n feel books we have that have more variety in textures (try fuzzy, fuzzy, fuzzy by Sandra Boynton, or Usborne That's not my... books).

There are not a lot of pages in this book and the pictures and textures aren't really that interesting. My daughter loves dogs, so we're keeping it anyway but I wish there was a little more to it. I think she would like a couple more pages as well.

This is a cute book full of cute puppies. I bought this book because my son loves dogs and he ended up loving this book too! My son loves the touch and feel books and this on was no exception. It does have textured fur and textured paper. The textured paper is not my favorite but my son does not seem to share my opinion on that. If the baby is happy, I am happy.

I gave it to my granddaughter because she loves dogs and she can't rip it.

5 pages total for this price. Way too expensive. The only reason I didn't return it is because my son split the page where there is some fabric inserted for puppies nose (after a single use), so I guess quality control not that good.

IT ARRIVED IN A TIMELY MANNER AND IN GOOD CONDITION. I LOVED IT!!!!!! THE PUPPIES WERE ADORABLE.

Author Martyn Farr has done an amazing job updating this for the new edition. The print quality is very high. He has assembled an awesome collection of photographs, most I have never seen anywhere else before. There are not many books on the subject of cave diving, and this one is in my opinion by far the best one.

Encyclopedic review of the world wide history of cave diving. Accurate. Not a novel. The author has a life passion of documentation and understanding of how we got from zero to the current state of the art, science and practice of cave diving. Well done.

Nice description of cave diving history, 2 thirds of the books related to Great Britain cave systems.

I bought this book while on a diving trip. Instead of going diving again, I promptly spent the rest of the day holed up in my hotel room reading it. I'm extremely impressed with this incarnation of "The Darkness Beckons". Farr as done a wonderful job organizing and presenting cave diving history.

Farr tells the complete story of cave diving in England's caves (often sumps), and then describes all major explorations worldwide (up until the beginning of the nineties). The book is not centered on Florida's caves so american cave divers might be somewhat disappointed. There are many pictures and drawings, the account is always accurate and detailed. It is a very interesting lecture and reference for any cave diver, not very much so for an open water diver. Cave divers are explorers that always pursue the extreme: deeper or longer into a cave; this will probably fascinate most adventure seeking people.

Martin Farr's book is by far the best book on the subject of history and development of cave diving. It is really exciting as you follow the development of the sport over the years from before the war to the latest trimix dives, scooter etc... Geographically it concentrates on the UK (about 1/3 of the book) and then Europe, USA and the rest of the world. Mandatory for anyone involved in cave diving and recommended for all interested in adventure stories.

This book is the bible of cave diving, it is a must have for any cave or technical diver. Sports divers and even non-divers will also enjoy the amazing adventures in this book. It is exploration in its extreme format, with no room for error

One after the next, the recipes are beautiful and appear delicious.On a personal note, I credit Lidia with teaching me how to make risotto on her television show in the early 1990s. Her instructions are simple, her recipes are easy to follow, and her enthusiasm for food and family are infectious. If you want to know what it's like to be part of an Italian family, this is it.On another note, if you want to try some of Lidia's cooking without breaking out this wonderful book, visit one of her fabulous restaurants. I have eaten at 3 of them, and the food there still ranks among the best Italian food I have ever eaten.This book is well worth the money you spend on it. You will enjoy it for years to come. Wonderful book. I grew up in an Italian Home. Although I cooked with Mom, now that she is gone I find I don't always remember the particulars of some of her recipes. I never took the time to write them down. Lidia's recipes are similar to my Mom's cooking. When I can't remember exactly how to make something I go to my Lidia's Cookbooks {I have a few} The one I especially like is "Lidia's Mastering the Art of Italian Cuisine" I have learned more from this book than any other cookbook I have read. They are all good.

Bought this for my mother (she's almost 80) and she's decided to stop poisoning my father with her food and has actually started cooking Lidia's recipes. She LOVES the recipes and said they're easy to make and follow -plus they're delicious!

Great complement to her TV show on Create TV. Basic, straight forward Italian influenced recipes including several fish ideas. Does not include a lot of complicated suggestions. If you are into good Italian food, like to cook (why else would you be interested in this book in the first place?) and enjoy her show, this is worth every penny. I am sure some would disagree or find fault. For those, move on. Book reviews, like cooking evaluations, are very subjective.

Just ordered this book after looking at the preview. Looking at the preview, every recipe shown was one I would love - easy, with ingredients I either always have on hand or are easy to find at the local store. Then I looked at the index and I was sold. Thanks to the preview recipes I can try a couple of these while I wait for the book to arrive. The first one I'll do it the deviled eggs with anchovies. My husband loves anything with anchovies and he's definitely an egg slut, so he is going to love these eggs. The cold beef salad is definitely a warm weather "must try". Thanks again Lidia for another great work; and thanks for your shows. I feel like I'm in your kitchen or traveling with you whether you are in Umbria or the many other great places you visited. It has made me stretch my own repertoire of Italian dishes.

I had been watching Lidia on PBS and had to buy this cookbook to get the scallop salad recipe :-) It really is commonsense cooking using fresh simple ingredients. Easy to follow and great explanations. The Marsala Ham was so unexpected and so delicious.

I own all her cookbooks, and I watch the show on PBS with this in hand. Like any cookbook, take what you need and leave the rest.The best part of Lidia's books is that they get you to step outside the confines of what you THINK Italian food is. You also find that you start taking a recipe, changing this and that, building on her original concept and making it your own.There are a lot of meals here that can be sped up for fast dinners, some adapted to a slow cooker. It's a wonderful book just to look at and savor.I lived in northern Italy for a few years in the 70s..this book kind of takes me back there. Recommended
