I enjoyed this book very much even though the grammar was terrible. The book tells the story of Alex Paine from the time he's 16 until he's in his 70's. Lots of action. The author was bad at mixing the characters names. Calling Alex, Sean or Mary, Mattie. Even one entire family the Riley's at the first of the book becomes the Ryan's a few chapters in at least they stayed the Ryan's the rest of the way through. Despite this i still give it 4 stars and will continue to read Mr. Petite books. I like the way he completely finished the story. But please hire a proofreader.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Alex Paine is a hero's hero with plenty of action throughout. If you like westerns I would encourage you to read this book. However, I will warn you that the the number typos and errors may leave you a little flustered. To the author, I recommend you hire a new proofreader but keep the great stories coming. I would have given 5 stars if not for the mistakes.
This is a well written story about life and how much it can change in the drop of the hat. Enjoyed this book very much and would highly recommend it to everyone that enjoys a great western story.
I seldom write reviews, with that said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was well written, I felt like I had read three books instead of one. So appreciated how the end wad done, tied up all the loose ends for me. This was my first book by this author but it will not be my last. Thank you Mr Petit for a very enjoyable story. I will recommend you to my reading friends and I look forward to reading more of your books.K. Lyons
This story is very enjoyable, as well as emotional and humorous. I do like the way the author describes how the bullets leave the firearms and penetrate the victims. His description of the noted firearms is very accurate, except for the fact revolvers only have cylinder, and several chambers. Mr. Petit has become my favorite author.
My favorite Western author! Hands down my most interesting and comforting reading. I am so happy that he is a prolific writer and allows us to enjoy his books without breaking the bank. I have read every book (over 37 and counting) and look forward to his monthly dole of new tales. The plots are similar but have enough surprises to keep me entertained. This one was very clever.
Another great Western tale wound around and around with some twists now and then. In this day and age, when the world has sped past the late 1800's, it is nice to sit back and read a Western novel by an author who gets better at this craft with each book that he writes. Just Overlook the typo's and the editorial mistakes and enjoy the story and time period. I sure did!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, His lead characters are all morally good people and stories are a pleasure to read.There are some mistakes in all his books with names and wording ,but the stories are still easy to follow. He's a great story writer, and all of them could have actually happened...Another GREAT book Mr Petit
